One of the best things about living in Baltimore is the waterfront. There are so many places where you can enjoy scenic views of the harbor, the natural shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay, and the fresh waterfront air. Luckily, spring is just around the corner, so we'll soon be spending more time outdoors. Our real estate agents are excited to share some of their favorite waterfront walks for this time of year.
Canton Waterfront Park offers incredible views of the harbor, including docked Naval ships and fishing piers. Paved multi-use trails weave through the park, surrounded by trees that are just starting to bud and blossom in early spring.
The paths in Canton Waterfront Park also pass the Korean War Memorial, which features the names of Baltimore residents who lost their lives in the conflict. There are plenty of benches where you can take a break, and parking is always free.
If you're looking for a more bustling place to walk, visit Rash Field Park. This modern, waterfront park has wide, paved pathways lined with flower beds, trees, and benches. You can see across the harbor or even walk out onto the pier for a closer view.
Rash Field Park also offers:
The Gwynns Falls Trail is a 22-mile trail with access points on Windsor Mill Road, Leon Day Park, and Frederick Avenue. The trail follows the course of Gwynns Falls; in some sections, it uses side streets, while in others it uses dedicated paths.
In the spring, walking this trail allows you to see everything come back to life, from nature to neighborhoods. There are a few wooded areas that are prime for bird watching. The trail also intersects with the Middle Branch Trail and Hutton Trail, so you can easily take a different route each time you visit.
If you're looking for a waterfront park to stroll through with family, Pierce's Park is a great choice. Located next to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter, this park offers a calm escape from the city, with serene views of the harbor. It's also filled with native plants and inventive sculptures.
Pierce's Park is known for its musical fence, which is beloved by visitors, young and old. Plus, there's a living willow tunnel that serves as a shining example of nature's adaptability.
Running along Jones Falls, the Jones Falls Trail is a relatively flat pathway that is perfect for a casual walk. Cycling is also permitted and common. The trail is currently 10 miles long, but there are plans to extend it in the coming years.
Jones Falls Trail passes by the Druid Hills Reservoir, which is always nice to admire in the spring. It also runs alongside Druid Hill Park and passes several historic mill buildings that reflect Baltimore's industrial past.
Whether you'd rather bird watch in nature or admire historic architecture, the walkways in Baltimore offer just what you're looking for. We hope you find the time to get outside and walk this spring. Contact us if you're looking for Baltimore homes for sale. We're happy to help.
