Baltimore is a wonderful place to spend the holidays, with tons of great events for all ages to help your family enjoy the magic of the season. The annual German Christmas Village is always one of the most popular holiday events near Baltimore homes for sale, with a full month of holiday shopping, festive food, and family fun starting the week before Thanksgiving. Our real estate agents have more on what you can expect when you visit the German Christmas Village this holiday season.
With a scenic setting at West Shore Park along the Inner Harbor, the German Christmas Village opens for the season on November 22, 2025, and stays open nearly every day until Christmas Eve. Hours for the Christmas Village are from noon – 8 p.m. every Sunday-Thursday, and noon – 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. There's no admission cost to attend the event, but it's worth bringing money along to enjoy the shopping, food, and drink.
The European holiday market is always one of the biggest attractions of the Christmas Village, and an excellent place to find unique gifts from around the world. The market typically features more than 60 vendors, offering handcrafted gifts, holiday decorations, collectibles, fashion, and more. You'll find a full map and list of vendors on the Christmas Village website, which should be updated for 2025 by the start of the event.
If you love the flavors and aromas of the holidays, then the food and drink at the Christmas Village certainly won't disappoint. Sample holiday favorites from across Europe, with a special focus on German holiday food and drink. Grab a schnitzel, a sandwich from the bratwurst grill, raclette, or Belgian fries. Pair your food with a hot drink, cocktail, beer, or glass of mulled wine, then find a spot in the comfortable, heated tent to enjoy your feast.
The German Christmas Village is designed to be very family-friendly, and it always includes fun activities for the youngest members of the family. The Christmas Carousel is a popular ride that's open every day throughout the event, and the Ferris wheel provides amazing views of the Christmas Village from above. Kids will love getting the chance to meet with Santa, and parents will love capturing memorable photos of the encounter. You'll also have the chance to meet Gingy the Gingerbread, the official mascot of the Christmas Village.
If you love holiday lights and decorating for the season, then you definitely won't want to miss the Festival of Trees, a featured attraction at the Christmas Village. Visit the Baltimore Visitor Center to see 12 Christmas trees expertly decorated for the season, each with its own unique theme. Vote for your favorite tree, take some great pictures, and consider donating to the Festival of Trees non-profit partner. This year's partner is the Kennedy Krieger Institute, which provides essential services for children and adults with special health challenges.
