October is the perfect time for a road race. The weather is cooling off, and the crisp autumn air is invigorating. Road races are also a great opportunity to get to know people in the community, especially if you've just moved to a new neighborhood. Plenty of great races are going on all month for runners of all ages and skill levels near Baltimore homes for sale. Here are a few worth checking out.
- Healthy Kids Running Series - 1212 Cowpens Ave., Towson, MD 21286
Dedicated to helping children get the exercise they need, the Healthy Kids Running Series races are held every Saturday in October at Loch Raven High School near Towson homes for sale. - Patapsco Valley 50K - 800 S. Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD 21228
If you're interested in something a little more hardcore than a standard 5K, try the Patapsco Valley 50K. Held October 19th at 7:30 a.m. in Patapsco Valley State Park, the 50K trail course (a little over 31 miles) provides a challenging race with beautiful views. Or if 50K seems too daunting, try the 25K at 8:30 a.m. All participants receive an event T-shirt and other swag, and those who finish get a hand-thrown mug or a 25K medal. The race is convenient to Catonsville homes for sale, but if you can't make it, you can run the race virtually on any route you choose between October 19th and November 19th.
- $5 5K Zombie Zoom - 3301 Waterview Ave., Baltimore, MD 21230
