The latte originated in Italy during the 1600s and has since become popular across Europe and the United States. Such a delicious, iconic beverage certainly deserves its own holiday. And, in fact, it has one! National Latte Day is coming up on February 11, and there are plenty of great Baltimore coffee shops to visit in celebration. Here are some top spots our real estate agents recommend.
- Dovecote Cafe - 2501 Madison Ave., Baltimore, MD 21217
Dovecote Cafe is more than a coffee shop; it's a community hub. The space is decorated with locally made art, and local crafters and vendors are onsite on the weekends. Relax on a comfortable couch and read a book or magazine while sipping your latte.
In addition to coffee and baked goods, Dovecoat Cafe does serve full meals. Their Adult Lunchables are quite popular, and Taco Tuesdays always draw a crowd.
- OneDo Coffee Roasters - 913 S. Lakewood Ave., Baltimore, MD 21224
OneDo is a stunning, minimalist coffee shop with a white and black color scheme. The simplicity of the space makes it easy to focus on your coffee and reading material without distraction.
OneDo offers a full menu of espresso drinks, including lattes. With an open coffee bar, you can watch as the barista expertly prepares your order. Don't forget to buy an extra bag of their beans to-go. The One Blend, a mixture of El Salvador and Ethiopian coffee beans, is a fan favorite.
- Ceremony Coffee Roasters - 520 Park Ave., Baltimore, MD 21201
Ceremony Coffee Roasters is one of the biggest names in the Baltimore coffee scene. The shop is located in the historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood and only serves coffees that have scored above 85. This is a true coffee lover's destination.
In addition to classic lattes, Ceremony has an incredible Peppermint Vanilla Latte made with sweet peppermint and vanilla syrup. Choose between dairy, oat, and almond milk. Or, if you're not in the mood for coffee, try the chai latte instead. It's wonderfully spiced and smooth.
- Sophomore Coffee - 2223 Maryland Ave., Baltimore, MD 21218
Sophomore Coffee is a cozy basement coffee house with a bit of a younger vibe. They take pride in sourcing their ingredients from sustainable and local sources. Their drinks menu includes classic drip coffee, along with lattes. You can add an extra shot of espresso to any drink for $1.
Sophomore Coffee serves delicious pastries made by Bramble Baking Co. Guests love the Apple Rosemary Hand Pies and the Kimchi Cheddar Scones. This is also a great place to pick up coffee gear, such as pour-overs and travel mugs.
- Artifact Coffee - 1500 Union Ave., Baltimore, MD 21211
Artifact Coffee is a small artisan coffee shop that makes almost everything in-house, including coffee syrups. They have a delicious lunch menu, including sandwiches, salads, and multiple gluten-free options. Their bread is baked locally at Motzi Bread.
Of course, if you're visiting Artifact Coffee on National Latte Day, you must order their latte. But rest assured that their other coffee drinks are incredible, too. Guests love the Sp-Iced Hot Chocolate, Japanese iced coffee, and the Horseman's Head—a drink made with espresso, steamed milk, pumpkin, and mulling spice syrup.
