Although many people have switched to ebooks, there's nothing quite like holding a physical novel in your hand. There are many different book stores in the Baltimore area, perfect for both casual and avid readers. Our real estate agents can't cover them all, of course, so we've picked out some of our favorites.
- The Book Thing — 3001 Vineyard Lane, Baltimore, MD 21218
If you're looking for a place to get cheap books, then The Book Thing should be your first stop. That's because the books in this wonderful location are absolutely free. Their goal is to get books to those who want them, and they accept any donations that you're able to give. They have many different types of books to choose from and always have outstanding reviews. And if you have any books to donate, feel free to help them out.
- Ivy Bookshop — 5928 Falls Rd., Baltimore, MD 21209
Perhaps the biggest reason why the Ivy Bookshop has become so popular is that its book selections set it apart from large bookstore chains. The shop is very spacious, which means it's easy to roam around and view the incredible variety of novels and other types of books. Even better is that their staff is known to write extensively on why they recommend certain books. This location makes it easy to find a new literary favorite.
- The Book Escape — 925 S. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21230
While the maze-like layout of The Book Escape may initially appear daunting, it is so well organized that you'll have no problem finding exactly what you want. As you walk around, you'll find plenty of chairs available so that you can pull up a seat and comfortably peruse the sections for as long as you'd like. They've even set up an outdoor patio where visitors are welcome to peruse the books before purchasing them.
- Greedy Reads — 320 W. 29th St., Baltimore, MD 21211
Don't let the name fool you because there's nothing greedy about this quaint little bookstore. Greedy Reads is a small location, but they still manage to have a wide variety of famous authors and titles available. Their staff is amongst the friendliest around, and they'll do whatever it takes to help you find a great book, no matter the genre. You may even get lucky and show up on a day when the owner has their friendly dog in the store to greet customers.
- Atomic Books — 3620 Falls Rd., Baltimore, MD 21211
Atomic Books is a popular bookstore and bar where you'll find everything from literature and art books to comic books and erotica. This cozy spot is unique to locals because it's known as the place where director John Waters collects his fan mail. But, perhaps the most well-known attribute is their incredible selection of the aforementioned comic books. If you're a comic book fan, this is one of the best places in the area to visit.
- Charm City Books — 782 Washington Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21230
The wonderful staff at Charm City Books definitely helps this bookstore live up to its name. Not only do they have a wide selection of novels, but they also have all sorts of other items available such as board games, card games, candles, crafts, toys, and more. Every month, you'll find a variety of events that celebrate books of all genres, including regular book club meetings.
With so many bookstores in the area, the only problem you'll have is choosing which one to visit first. If you're new to Baltimore or planning to move here, contact us to find an incredible home for you or your family.
