- History of the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum
Founded in 1990, the Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum is named for the pioneering aircraft manufacturer who once operated a large production facility in the Baltimore area. Glen L. Martin was quite a character, beginning his career at the dawn of the age of aircraft design at the Wright Company and continuing to innovate from the time that he established his own aircraft business until the beginning of the space age.
Ever since the museum was established in his name, it has been a place where Maryland residents can learn about the history of aviation and space travel through unique educational exhibits. Over the years, the museum has acquired many aircraft developed by Martin's companies, while creating fun, educational programs for both kids and adults.
