May is National Bike Month! And now that spring is in full swing, our real estate agents are excited to get outside and enjoy the great weather on Baltimore's bike trails. Here's what you need to know to enjoy a month of fresh air and open trails in Baltimore, MD!
Established in 1956 and sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike month offers a great opportunity to experience cycling, whether you're just trying it out or have been doing it your whole life. Bike to work, bike to save on gas, bike to help out the environment, bike for exercise or just take a ride for fun. No matter the reason, National Bike Month is your time to celebrate all things cycling. It's celebrated in communities all over America, and it just happens to take place during a month when the weather is pretty much perfect.
The Baltimore area offers a wide range of paths, parks, and trails to explore on a bike, many of them just footsteps away from these Baltimore homes for sale. Be sure to check out these favorite local bike riding spots:
Don't have a bike of your own? Baltimore has made it easier than ever to hit the streets via bicycle with the unveiling of a new fleet of 250 electric-assist bikes. The bikes were made available to the public through a partnership with Lime, the same company that has introduced electric scooters as well as e-bikes and un-powered bicycles to cities across America.
Like the e-scooters that have become a common sight in cities like Austin, TX, Baltimore's new bikes are dockless, which means you can drop them off wherever you happen to be done with them, rather than returning them to a station. Bikes cost $1 to unlock, and $0.15 per minute to ride.
