The community of Timonium, Maryland will kick off this year's holiday season at the 25th anniversary of the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Festival of Trees. Topping the list of things to do during the Christmas season for many Timonium residents, this three-day event takes place November 28 through 30 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. From fairytale forests to gingerbread towns to the trees themselves, this is one of the best things to do at Christmas time in Timonium, and it is not to be missed.

The event will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. and running until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday. The festival takes place at Maryland State Fairgrounds at the Cow Palace. Adults pay $13 for entrance and kids and seniors pay $7. Tickets purchased in advance receive a $2 discount.
The Festival of Trees is about so much more than the trees themselves. Every day local and nationally-known performers will take the main stage to provide entertainment in the form of handbells, singing, holiday story reading, dancing, comedy, martial arts and more. You could spend almost your entire visit seeing live performances.

When you are not enjoying live performances, head to the rest of the festival. Start with a tour of over 600 trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses decorated by local groups and individuals. Then, spend some time shopping for gifts and holiday treats. Finally, head to SantaLand to ride rides, play games, do some crafts and participate in family-friendly activities.
While the Festival of Tress is one of the most interesting and exciting things to do in the area around the holidays, it's much more than just a fun family activity. Proceeds and donations from the event go to the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Happy Holidays Fund. This fund provides services to families who have children with disabilities as they navigate the holiday season.
The Kennedy Krieger Institute is dedicated to helping children with special needs reach their full potential. Donations and proceeds are used to fund the adopt-a-family program, which feeds needy families, provides in-home equipment not covered by the families' insurances, like accessibility modifications to the home or help with therapeutic recreational activities for patients in the Institute's inpatient unit. All donations raised through the Festival of Trees are matched by BB&T, the Festival of Trees title sponsor.
The Festival of Trees is just one example of things to do in Timonium. If you are interested in calling Timonium home, contact the team at Homesale Realty for the real estate help you need to find the right home.
