Within Wildwood Park, you will find the Olewine Nature Center. The Nature Center is filled with displays and dioramas that show how freshwater wetlands work, keeping the flora and fauna health and sustained. This Nature Center shows the importance of the wetlands are to the natural community. It is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Tuesdays through Sundays and hosts regular programs for schools and community members.
On any given day, Harrisburg residents can be found at Wildwood Park exploring and enjoy its natural beauty. The wetlands nature sanctuary is an excellent place for bird watching, and many rare and endangered species will spend some of the year in the area. The park also has areas for fishing, and picnics in the park are common. Of course, many people come simply to bike, walk or hike as they get some exercise surrounded by Pennsylvania's natural side.
Entrance to Wildwood Park is always free. Some programs, like day camps, have an additional fee. It offers an excellent respite from the city for those who call Harrisburg, Pennsylvania home.
