The neighborhood of Mt. Washington, MD is mainly family homes and features varied upscale boutiques and bakeries in one of the two small commercial areas. The neighborhood has access to Baltimore's Light Rail system and the area near the Light Rail station is where locals go to find the best places to eat and relax in the neighborhood. The Tavern was completely rebuilt in 2012 after a devastating fire in 2011 and the new restaurant is a stunning recreation of the owners' original vision. The decor varies throughout the different areas with the front bar having a traditional cozy tavern feel and the dining areas being more crisp, modern, and airy. The Tavern even features a kids menu complete with grilled cheese and chicken fingers (or a salmon filet for the discerning youngster) so you can be sure your kids are welcome.

All of the comfortable food you're looking for from a tavern is waiting for you in the appetizer menu, butwitha contemporary twist. Buffalo wings are a tavern staple, but jumbo lump crab wontons and truffle fries with shaved asiago are unexpected and most welcome. Locals recommend the Jumbo Lump Crab dip.
• Soups and Salads.
Plenty of vegetarian options are available for those that worry about finding meatless options in a tavern. The Fried Green Tomato Caprese promises to satisfy with fresh mozzarella and creamy balsamic vinaigrette. More traditional salad options include the Tavern Salad, House Caesar, and for a special treat don't miss the Poached Salmon Salad with pickled radishes and crumbled feta. Soups include a three beef chili, tomato basil, Maryland crab and cream of crab.
• Dinner Entrees.
An ocean of seafood choices are available from sea scallops over pasta in a chardonnay jus to line-caught wild Rockfish filet. The Wellington is a classic menu item that is served with a parmesan polenta, and for a truly extravagant meal, the honey-orange crispy boneless duck breast won't disappoint. If you're not in the mood for a formal dinner, the Mt. Washington Tavern offers a selection of burgers, including a delectable locally-sourced bison burger and a meatless veggie burger, that will satisfy any appetite.
• Brunch.
The Tavern is a Mt Washington Maryland favorite for brunch – especially on Sundays. Enjoy brunch classics such as Eggs Benedict and the Country Breakfast with eggs, sausage, scrapple, home fries and biscuits with gravy. For adventurous brunchers, the Charm City Benedict features fried green tomatoes and for those with a sweet tooth, Shorty's Banana Nut Pancakes are sure to satisfy.
