Chambersburg, PA Community & Real Estate Information

Centrally located in South Central PA along the I-81 corridor, Chambersburg is convenient to Baltimore, Washington D.C., Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Norfolk Southern is currently constructing an intermodal railway terminal that will further open up this area to the Northeast. As it is now, this area is home to many large distribution companies…Target, Staples Direct, Kmart Specialty Center, Ingram Book Group and more! It’s a bustling hub for distribution, plus some large manufacturing and production facilities as well. Companies such as Tyco Electronics, Knouse Foods, Manitowoc Cranes, and Olympic Steel are a few that have roots in this area.

Chambersburg is also the proud home of the Letterkenny Army Depot - originally established as an ammunition depot, today Letterkenny Army Depot is known as the Army's Capabilities Based Depot. LEAD comprises over 18,000 acres and is the largest employer in Franklin County, with over 3,600 employees.

Franklin County is rich in agriculture. Farmland covers nearly half of the county placing us at 4th of 67 Pennsylvania counties for agriculture sales. Dairy is the largest segment of the local farm industry, with the county ranking 2nd in production of milk, cattle, apples, peaches and corn for silage.

Besides manufacturing and farming, Chambersburg is a vibrant tourist area with a nationally accredited Main Street Community with a variety of things to do. For history buffs to hipsters and those in between, Chambersburg has something for you!

Its location has always played an important role in history……often being referred to as the “Crossroads of the Country” because of the intersection of Routes 11 and 30, two historic highways. This made Chambersburg a popular spot during the Civil War, being occupied three times by the Confederate Army. Raided, invaded, and devastated by fire in 1864, the fountain and the bronze sentry are monuments to the soldiers of the Civil War that stand today. Although mostly devastated from the blaze, Chambersburg was rebuilt and is now better than ever! Downtown is home to many wonderful specialty shops, savory eateries, historical sites (take a walking tour) and wonderful community events held at beautiful Memorial Square.

Retirees also love Chambersburg! It is home to the Penn National Golf Course Community, one of the top retirement communities in the U.S., where Retirees can enjoy an active lifestyle.

Chambersburg offers small-town-urban-living in the heart of a growing region, it offers something different. Our REALTORS® are ready to help you make Chambersburg your home! Many are long-time residents themselves, proud of the area and ready to share all it has to offer!
