Baltimore, MD Real Estate Information

Baltimore Neighborhoods

Baltimore is separated into nine geographical areas with hundreds of identified districts also dubbing it “a city of neighborhoods”. Baltimore’s Central district is its main commercial area and includes the Downtown Baltimore real estate market. Downtown Baltimore, home to the city’s fastest-growing neighborhoods, was once predominantly a business center. Since 2002, Downtown Baltimore’s population has grown to 12,000 residents. Those buying homes in Baltimore are drawn to the area by its proximity to diverse neighborhoods, architecture, cultural activities and convenient access to jobs, shopping, and restaurants.

Baltimore's Renaissance Project

Although Baltimore suffered a loss of both residents and commerce during the 1960s and 1970s, Baltimore City real estate experienced a renaissance. Baltimore underwent an ambitious American renewal development project during the 1980s and 1990s. Historic Baltimore communities like Federal Hill and Fells Point are thriving because both potential Baltimore home buyers and current residents move to the city and fill neighborhood streets, stores, and restaurants.

The Inner Harbor, located at the heart of Baltimore, offers city visitors as well as real estate owners numerous entertainment opportunities both during the day and evening hours. Forbes Magazine voted Baltimore (with Washington, DC) #2 for having a dynamic nightlife atmosphere.
