Red Lion PA is a busy community with a healthy balance of industry, commerce, and family living.
Originally settled in 1880, Red Lion was once the cigar making capital of the world. It has changed considerably over the last 130 years. Today, Red Lion's diverse industrial opportunities include milling, steel fabrication, and plastics. One thing that remained constant is the commitment of Red Lion's residents to making their community a great place to call home.
Year after year, Red Lion has made improvements to its area giving residents and visitors plenty of attractions and things to do to enjoy the company of their families and neighbors.
After a long and snowy winter, people everywhere are starting to get restless for spring and the residents of Red Lion PA are no different. Spring fun starts with the Easter Egg hunt at Fairmount Park where children are welcome to search for eggs and special prizes. Community gatherings continue in May with the Memorial Day parade through town that begins at the high school and finishes with a service in Fairmount Park.
Spring also brings the opening of the playing fields and playgrounds. Fairmount Park is spread across 11 acres and includes a walking path, playground, volleyball court and basketball courts. Nitchkey Field has a softball/baseball diamond and a soccer/football field. Both parks also feature a picnic pavilion with tables and seating. Sports programs ramp up in the spring and youth t-ball, softball and baseball all start practicing in April, and continue throughout the summer.
When the weather heats up, it's time to head to Red Lion PA's Splash Pad. The 2013 grand opening of the water park was a resounding success and the Borough looks forward to many years of fun at the park. The park features spouts and fountains of various sizes and is fully enclosed making it perfect for kids of all ages. The new park features fully functional bathrooms and is free for all visitors.
For parties and gatherings, the pavilion at the Splash Park is available for rent. The pavilion is located outside of the water park's fence but close enough that children can still be supervised. It features picnic tables and a grill to help make your party a success.
For school-aged children, the Red Lion Summer Day Camp offers a full day of sun and fun. Activities include crafts, games, and contests along with field trips to places like the bowling alley, the library, the fire station, and more. There is even a Mini-Olympics and a Penny Carnival at the end of the program.
As the leaves change and children head back to school, the outdoor fun continues. Fairmount Park embraces fall with its annual Halloween Happenings where children enjoy hayrides, a costume contest, pumpkin painting, free games, glow-in-the-dark egg hunt, and much more. Red Lion has two fall sports, girls field hockey and flag football, both that kickoff in September. As the year comes to a close, Fairmount Park gets in the holiday spirit with music, carols, and refreshments at the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree complete with Santa arriving on the community fire truck.
