Downtown Baltimore at Its Best

Mark your calendar, it's almost time for the first ever Baltimore Craft Beer Festival.

Baltimore Craft Beer

This Saturday, October 24, 2015, you can sample an abundance of beer brewed in the great state of Maryland. It's a celebration of beer, brewers, and Baltimore's booming business of craft breweries. This is a community-wide event with proceeds benefiting the Brewers Association of Maryland and Strong City Baltimore. Strong City Baltimore is a local organization whose goals is to revitalize neighborhoods throughout Charm City and build a deep sense of civic engagement for community members.

Where, When, and How Much

The festival takes place at Canton Waterfront Park in Downtown Baltimore. The park's address is 3001 Boston Street. On Saturday, the festival runs from 12-6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online, and ticket prices start at $35. Although the VIP tickets are sold out for this year's event, you can try to grab that privilege next year.

General admission passes are $35 for those who want late entry, 3:30-6 p.m., and $45 if you want to attend the full day. If you require transportation, a $75 BAM bus will be available to people coming from White Marsh, Frederick, Solomons Island, Silver Spring, and Southern Maryland. Pickups will be at designated breweries at each location. If you choose to drive, parking can be secured through Parking Panda so you don't have to worry about finding a spot on the day of the event. You can utilize bike parking and water taxis as well.

Baltimore Craft Beer Food

Beer and More

Although beer is the highlight of the festival, attendees will also enjoy music from live bands. Featured acts include Chris Diller, Big Hoax, and Greasy Hands. Food will also play a role, and you'll find everything from Neapolitan-style pizza and burgers to oysters and authentic Greek cuisine. Shop a variety of vendors offering cycling apparel, dog treats, hand-painted glassware, chocolates, art, and more. Everyone who attends will also leave with a commemorative glass

Homebrew Competition

Beer aficionados who have begun their own home-brewing production can enter their brew in the homebrew competition. Your "harvest ale" will be judged by folks from Maryland breweries and members of the crowd. The cost to try and judge the homebrews is $10.

What to Bring

Note that the festival is outdoors. You are allowed to bring the following items:

  • Chairs
  • Blankets
  • Growlers to fill at the filling station
  • Children, although it is not recommended as a kid-friendly event

The festival asks that you leave dogs, tents, coolers, and outside food at home.

As the festival gets closer, the city of Baltimore anticipates having the highest number of brewers at one singular event. You'll enjoy favorites like Flying Dog and Heavy Seas, and find excitement in trying new names in Maryland's craft brewing scene. All-in-all, there will be around 33 breweries involved in the first annual Baltimore Craft Beer Festival. If you don't have it on your calendar, add it today. It's destined to be an excellent event that will bring beer-loving citizens together for years to come.
