Elizabethtown, PA Community & Real Estate Information

The tale of Elizabethtown all began when Barnabas Hughes bought the Bear Tavern (trading post) and decided to lay out a town and name it after his wife, Elizabeth. Since then, Elizabethtown has grown in leaps and bounds (mirroring its sister-city, Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland). This area is a great place to live and work! Elizabethtown has a first rate college (Elizabethtown College), a leading chocolate factory (M&M/Mars), and one of the largest Masonic Homes in the country.

Elizabethtown College was charted in 1899. Founded by members of the Church of the Brethren, the college still believes that learning is most noble when used to benefit others and affirms the values of peace, non-violence, human dignity and social justice. Mars Chocolate North America began in the early 1900’s and has a chocolate production facility in Elizabethtown, providing economic support to this community through manufacturing and employment. Since 1910, the Masonic Village, a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community, children’s home and community service organization, has offered its residents a lifestyle that fits their individual needs. It provides care and services to residents, as well as others, in the community.

In addition to these organizations that call Elizabethtown home, the community has wonderful historic sites to visit, as well as several other fun spots, if you’re not a history buff. The downtown area is full of quaint shops, restaurants and various places of interest. For good food and fun times, stop by T.J. Rockwell’s - boasting a large selection of menu items and an even larger deck, it’s a popular gathering-spot in warm weather. Visit MoviE-town to catch a showing of one of many popular flicks, it’s a great choice for movie-goers in Central PA, with 8 state-of-the-art auditoriums. Check out Elizabethtown’s Arts in the Park for other great events through-out the year. Lots of surprising, fun options in a small town setting!

Many of our agents are also residents and enjoy contributing to the community of Elizabethtown by volunteering their time to local charitable organizations. They proudly contribute their time and donations to the Homes of Hope organization…providing safe, affordable housing for homeless and low-income families and individuals.
