The Boyertown real estate area is served by the Boyertown Area School District, a district also including the townships of Colebrookdale, Douglas, Earl and Washington and the boroughs of Bally and Bechtelsville in Berks County and Douglas, New Hanover and Upper Frederick in neighboring Montgomery County. The district has ten modern school buildings serving a school district population of 37,265. Each school has health room coverage, school counseling services and handles the majority of special education students in-house, according to the Boyertown Area School District.


Boyertown has a rich history dating back to 1720 when John Salter and other early settlers including Jonathan Rhoads, Henry Baer, the Shaners, the Schaeffers and the Henry Boyer family. Henry Boyer purchased a farm in what is today near the town center. He built a hotel where the “Philadelphia and Reading” roads intersected.
